Back Roads of Montana

This is taken somewhere on Highway 200 between Missoula and Great Falls. I thought for a minute or two I was somewhere in the outback of Australia. I wonder if the geologic features are similar. The grass is fairly green up here and especially so when you get to a river. It suddenly turns from light green to dark green. This must have been a welcome sight to those who were exploring these parts in the 19th century.
